Dr. Orin Levine is an expert on vaccines, especially those that prevent pneumonia and meningitis due to Hib and pneumococcal infections. He is Executive Director of the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, a team dedicated to accelerating access to life-saving pneumonia vaccines and treatments for the world’s poorest children. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins and serves as Co-chair of the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Pneumococcal Awareness Council of Experts (PACE), a small group of global experts dedicated to advocating for investment in pneumonia prevention efforts among government leaders around the world.

Dr. Levine frequently serves as a consultant on preventing Hib and pneumococcal disease with vaccination, including to the World Health Organization and to governments of individual countries. Prior to leading IVAC, he worked at both the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Levine has authored and co-authored more than 75 research papers and book chapters on the subjects of meningitis and pneumonia and their prevention through vaccination. He appears frequently as an expert in print, on radio, on television, and in electronic media, and has authored or co-authored op-eds that have appeared in publications around the world.
