Dr. Pavla Krizova heads the Department of Microbiological Laboratories and the National Reference Laboratory for Meningococcal Infections at the Czech Republic’s National Institute of Public Health.

Dr. Krizova has worked as a World Health Organization (WHO) consultant epidemiologist in the Smallpox Eradication Program in India. She has served as the National Microbiology Focal Point for the Czech Republic at the European Centre for Disease Control since 2007. She has also served as a member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), the European Monitoring Group on Meningococci and on several Czech medical committees and associations.

Dr. Krizova is currently the president of the Czech Society for Epidemiology and Microbiology and is editor-in-chief of the Czech journal Epidemiology, Microbiology, Immunology. She has also served on the editorial boards of the Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology Bulletin and the Central European Journal of Public Health, and has produced hundreds of publications on her research.
