Dr. Pavla Krizova

Dr. Pavla Krizova heads the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Streptococci and the Department of Airborne Bacterial Infections in the Czech Republic. She has served in this role since 1989. Prior to that, Dr. Krizova was the head of the National Reference Laboratory for Meningococcal Infections and worked in the National Institute of Public Health, Centre of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Department of Airborne Bacterial Infections.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Krizova worked as a WHO consultant epidemiologist in the Smallpox Eradication Program in India. She has been the National Microbiology Focal Point for the Czech Republic at the European Centre for Disease Control since 2007, and has been a member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), the European Monitoring Group on Meningococci and a member of several Czech medical committees and associations.

Dr. Krizova is currently the President of the Czech Society for Epidemiology and Microbiology and Editor-in-chief of the Czech journal Epidemiology, Microbiology, Immunology. She has also served on the editorial boards of the Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology Bulletin and the Central European Journal of Public Health, and has produced hundreds of publications on her research.
