Program: Coalition against Typhoid
Reports to: Director, Coalition against Typhoid Secretariat
The Senior Technical Officer will serve as a member of the Coalition against Typhoid (CaT) team and will be instrumental in managing the execution of a new three-year grant to conduct enteric fever surveillance in Asia.
This grant supports the creation of a regional enteric fever surveillance network that will enable the systematic collection of data on enteric fever incidence, mortality, complications (intestinal perforation, etc.), hospitalization rates, and clinical outcome differences between drug-sensitive and drug-resistant Salmonella Typhi (S. Typhi) and Salmonella Paratyhi (S. Paratyphi) to fill the knowledge gaps related to the population impact of enteric fever. The surveillance network will cover five countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal and Pakistan), and will be carried out in two phases over a period of three years.
