Position Title: Senior Program Officer
Reports to: Director, Sustainable Immunization Financing
The Senior Program Officer for the Sustainable Immunization Financing (SIF) Program will help to lead vaccine advocacy efforts globally so that countries sustainably finance their national immunization programs.
The SIF Program encourages key stakeholders in twenty-two countries to work together to identify sustainable financing mechanisms for immunization. The Senior Program Officer, in coordination with the SIF Director, is responsible for: (1) day-to-day coordination of a team of field-based Senior Program Officers in Africa, Asia and Europe; (2) SIF Program project management; (3) writing, editing and distributing SIF reports, case studies, articles and maintaining the SIF program website (www.sabin.org/sif), and; (4) providing back-up administrative support to the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Vaccine Advocacy and Education programs. This is an exempt position, requiring diplomacy, discretion, independence and sound judgment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and facilitate SIF Colloquiums, workshops, briefings and mission
- Coordinate projects with contractors for the development, production, translation and distribution of communications materials
- Conduct research and analysis on legislative and regulatory documents, processes and best practices, as well as track resource flows to national immunization programs
- Support SIF budget management in collaboration with Sabin’s accounting department
- Maintain coordination with GAVI Alliance, UNICEF, World Bank, World Health Organization and other global immunization agency counterparts for specific joint field activities
- Represent the SIF Program in implementing countries and in international meetings as needed
- Produce and distribute quarterly SIF Immunization Financing News newsletters, blogs, articles and other SIF reports
- Work with other Sabin counterparts to document SIF activities and produce public information about the Program
- Manage the content of the SIF portion of the Sabin website in coordination with the Sabin Communications team
- Perform other duties as needed
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field such as international development, social sciences or public policy required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience in project management, global health, public health or a related field
- Professional experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Previous experience working abroad or in a non-profit organization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak French; Russian would be an asset
- Strong attention to detail, ability to manage complex tasks, highly organized, dependable and able to prioritize competing demands in order to meet deadlines
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook
- Listens carefully to feedback and comments from staff and adapts plans/actions accordingly
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
- Working knowledge of HTML preferred
- Well developed research and interview skills
- Highly flexible
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as scheduled
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent at working closely with others over geographical distance
