Gates, pharma and other partners commit to accelerated R&D to find new treatments for NTDs

Earlier this week 13 pharmaceutical companies*, together with several government and nongovernmental organizations**, pledged to find solutions to eliminate or control 10 neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) by the year 2020. At an event in London, pharmaceutical companies committed to invest in research and development (R&D) to find new treatments for NTDs along with increasing donations of existing drugs.

WHO and PLoS: No Health Without Research

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Public Library of Science (PLoS) are launching a new initiative to support the latest WHO World Health Report by encouraging authors to submit articles that substantiate the WHO's message, that research is essential for better health.
