The Sabin Vaccine Institute expresses its deepest condolences to family, friends and colleagues of the Honorable Richard C. Holbrooke, who died yesterday.
Ambassador Holbrooke, a diplomat, AIDS activist, and public servant, was the recipient of Sabin’s 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award for leadership and dedication to securing adequate healthcare for the world’s most vulnerable populations. He clearly recognized the strong relationship between science, medicine and diplomacy for the benefit of humanity.

Sabin Executive Vice President Dr. Ciro de Quadros will serve on the steering committee of a recently launched “Decade of Vaccines Collaboration.”
In this role, Dr. de Quadros will provide oversight for the development of an action plan that will increase the discovery, development and delivery of lifesaving vaccines to the most vulnerable populations over the next decade.
