New England Journal of Medicine Studies Affirm World Health Organization Recommendation to Include Rotavirus Vaccines in Every Nation’s Immunization Program

For the first time ever, studies published last month by the New England Journal of Medicine have confirmed a direct link between rotavirus vaccine and a reduction of diarrheal disease deaths based on data from three year-long studies conducted in Malawi, Mexico, and South Africa.

Human Hookworm Vaccine Initiative featured in Case Studies for Global Health

Sabin Vaccine’s Human Hookworm Vaccine Initiative (HHVI) is one of 32 projects chosen for inclusion in Case Studies for Global Health released on November 20, 2009 by the Alliance for Case Studies for Global Health. The Alliance is a collaboration of The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization's Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), Global Health Progress (GHP), International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) and Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).

A new online tool for Strategic Planning for Measles Control

The Advanced Immunization Management (AIM) e-Learning website has recently launched a new module to support the World Health Organization's computer-based Measles Strategic Planning (MSP) tool. The MSP was developed to help countries develop measles vaccination strategies to meet their measles control goals given resource limitations. The Measles Strategic Planning tool is ready for use, loaded with country-specific data that can be updated by the user.
