Neglected Tropical Diseases as Hidden Causes of Cardiovascular Disease

An important component of the burden of cardiovascular disease in low- and middle-income countries may be attributed to the neglected tropical diseases.
Last Friday, Sabin president Dr. Peter Hotez was a featured guest on Soledad O’Brien’s CNN morning show “Starting Point.” On the show, Dr. Hotez discussed the burden of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) globally and closer to home in the United States.

Last week, UK Member of Parliament (MP) Jeremy Lefroy urged international action to combat neglected tropical diseases during a Parliamentary debate. A video of his statement can be viewed here.
Mr. Lefroy is also the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and NTDs (APPMG) and a member of the Sabin Foundation Europe Board of Trustees.
