Health officials and local researchers have launched an emergency vaccination campaign to stem an outbreak of ceftriaxone-resistant typhoid in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The outbreak has sickened more than 800 people since it began in late 2016.

Health workers don’t just play a significant part in achieving many global health goals; they are on the ground making these goals possible.

A recent expert meeting on typhoid epidemiological modeling, organized by the Coalition against Typhoid, marks one of the first attempts to jolt governments into action against typhoid fever, a disease that is thriving largely unnoticed in many developing countries.
