In countries around the world, cadres of information specialists work behind the scenes, tracking expenditures and keeping immunization managers informed of financial matters. They play a crucial part in helping to ensure that all people have access to vaccines. In Cameroon, Mr. Yves Alain Omgba currently serves that role as Database Management Unit Leader for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).

Yves hails from Arrondisement Mbalmayo in Nyong-et-So’o Province in Central Cameroon, and holds a master’s degree in informatics from the University of Yaounde. Married with three children, he lives in Yaounde where his favorite pastimes include football, astronomy and music.

Prior to joining EPI in February 2010, Yves worked as a planner and information specialist in three other government ministries. In his current position, Yves helps fashion the Program’s comprehensive multi-year plans (cMYPs) and prepares the annual WHO/UNICEF Joint Reporting Form reports – the only source of national data on routine immunization spending.

In a recent Sabin-organized workshop in Dakar, Yves shared Cameroon’s EPI resource tracking innovations with peers from Mali and Senegal who hold similar positions. Together, they are helping to build sustainably financed immunization programs in their countries. The Sabin Sustainable Immunization Financing (SIF) program salutes SIF Champion Yves Alain Omgba for his valuable contributions to the cause.
