Since 1994, the Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal has been awarded annually in conjunction with the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) Annual Conference on Vaccine Research. The fourteenth annual NFID conference will be held in Baltimore, Maryland and the Sabin Vaccine Institute will host the 2011 Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal Award ceremony at the conclusion of the NFID conference, on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

Drs. Douglas R. Lowy and John T. Schiller will receive the 2011 Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal Award for their groundbreaking research which led to the development of the first vaccine whose main goal was to prevent cancer.
