The neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are the most common infections of the world’s poorest people, and disproportionately occur among nations and populations of strategic interest to the United States. Dr. Peter J. Hotez, Sabin president, Baker Institute fellow in disease and poverty and dean of the Baylor College of Medicine National School of Tropical Medicine, speaks about the potential benefits and challenges of engaging the Middle East, Pakistan and China in science diplomacy to relieve the shared burden of NTDs.
