ABC News Houston
ABC News Houston highlights the work of Dr. Peter Hotez and Baylor's National School of Tropical Medicine.
"On Thursday, we told you about a serious disease thought to exist only in developing countries that's now here in Texas, even in the Houston area. But it is more than one disease. It is several that are now finding a home and hosts here.
It is a lab at Baylor College of Medicine that may save lives. It is the National School of Tropical Medicine, working to find vaccines for what are called neglected tropical diseases usually associated with third world countries.
"What we noticed, however, was a lot of those diseases were right here in our own backyard," said Dr. Peter Hotez with Baylor College of Medicine."
