The Pneumococcal Council of Experts (PACE), an initiative of the Sabin Vaccine Institute, has led efforts to raise awareness of the burden of pneumococcal disease, the most common vaccine-preventable cause of death and a leading infectious killer of children worldwide.

According to a new report, “State of the world’s vaccines and immunization,” released today by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the World Bank, increasing access to new pneumococcal vaccines is expected to have a rapid and major impact on global efforts to reduce child deaths, prevent sickness, and prevent disability.
