Experts are convinced that the introduction of routine vaccination against pneumococcus should be implemented. According to a recent analysis by Infopharm, the long term benefit from this kind of vaccination would outweigh the expenses with the ratio of 2:1.

PRAGUE – Routine vaccination against pneumococcal diseases would save millions of lives throughout the world. This was announced at yesterday’s seminar held by the Pneumococcal Awareness Council of Experts (PACE). Pneumococcal disease causes pneumonia, encephalitis or barotitis. In the Czech Republic, four hundred people fall ill each year and 14 percent of infected children below fi ve die.
