How to Submit a Nomination

To submit a candidate for the Gold Medal or Rising Star award:

• Review criteria for nomination
• Create a profile on our online submission portal
• Fill out the nomination form

The nomination form requires submitters to provide statements describing their nominee’s contributions and experience as it relates to the listed criteria. Submissions can be saved as drafts and completed at a later date, but must be submitted prior to the closing date to be considered for that year’s award.

Nominations for the 2025 awards close on October 25, 2024.

Nomination Criteria

For our Gold Medal and Rising Star award, we seek nominations that reflect the diversity of global health work, unrestricted by gender, race or ethnicity, location, or field of work.

Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal

The Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal is awarded to an individual or small team of individuals that meets the following criteria:

• Exemplifies Sabin’s mission to make vaccines more accessible, enable innovation, and expand immunization across the globe
• Improved access to vaccines, has had a major impact in vaccine research and development, or has enabled innovation to expand immunization
• Left an indelible imprint toward the improvement of public health
• Demonstrates leadership and a commitment to improving the health of all people, everywhere
• Is a scientist, researcher, or public health leader

Sabin Rising Star Award

The Sabin Rising Star award is conferred to an individual that meets the following criteria:

• Exemplifies Sabin’s mission to make vaccines more accessible, enable innovation, and expand immunization across the globe
• Works to materially improve access to vaccines, impact vaccine research and development, or enable innovation to expand immunization
• Demonstrates leadership and a commitment to improving the health of all people, everywhere
• Is a scientist, researcher, or public health leader
• Is under 40 years of age

Submit a nomination

Award Selection

Nominations are held in strict confidence and will be reviewed by a selection committee put together by Sabin leaders. From the pool of selected candidates, our Board of Trustees votes to determine award recipients.

Awardees will be announced in early 2025.
