Awarded annually, the Sabin Gold Medal and Rising Star Award honors individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to immunization and global health. These awards commemorate the legacy of the late Dr. Albert B. Sabin, who discovered the oral polio vaccine and dedicated his life to ensuring everyone in the world had access to vaccines.
31st Gold Medal and Rising Star Recipients
The recipients for the 31st Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal are Drs Keith Klugman and Shabir Madhi, recognized for their work demonstrating the efficacy of vaccines to protect children and pregnant women in LMICs.
The 2024 Rising Star recipient is Prof. Nicole Basta who is being recognized for her invaluable insights into the epidemiology of infectious diseases and the impact of disease prevention efforts.
