Kari Stoever of Sabin Vaccine Institute/Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases will be a featured speaker at a breakfast sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Group of Institutes, Foundations and Enterprises (GIFE), Schwab Foundation, and Synergos Institute in conjunction with the World Economic Forum on Latin American being held from April 14th to April 16th, 2009.

The forum will discuss the how the current economic downturn has begun to threaten the recent trend in social philanthropy that has begun to permeate Latin America, where many substantial home-grown philanthropic efforts have been launched in recent years as wealth creation in the region has accelerated. The forum will address such questions as "What can the business, foundation and public sectors in Latin America do to ensure the sustainability and expansion of ongoing social initiatives?" Other speakers will include Denise Aguiar, President, Fundação Bradesco; Alejandro Ramirez Magaña, CEO of Cinépolis; Maria Alice Setubal, President, Tide Setubal Foundation and CENPEC.
