In August of 2007, 70 immunization experts from the Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama gathered in San José, Costa Rica to discuss strategies for broadening the adoption of pneumococcus and rotavirus vaccines. The Sub-regional Symposium on New Vaccines: Pneumococcal and Rotavirus provided an opportunity for representatives of several Latin American countries to lay the groundwork for adopting vaccines against these diseases and to measure their impact.
