From August 29-31, 2018, 275 scientists, public health officials, policy makers, and government and industry representatives from more than 50 countries convened in Minsk, Belarus, for the 13th International Rotavirus Symposium. The symposium focuses global attention on rotavirus, one of the biggest causes of child mortality worldwide, and gives an opportunity to share recent scientific data on rotavirus (RV) epidemiology and immunology, the current status of the licensed RV vaccines, and data on the impact of the introduction of RV vaccines. The 13th International Rotavirus Symposium was convened by the Sabin Vaccine Institute in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. National Institutes of Health Fogarty International Center, Republican Research and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology at the Government of Belarus, PATH and the Rotavirus Organization of Technical Allies (ROTA) Council.
