Marissa is the Senior Manager for Sabin’s HPV Initiative and project lead for the Global HPV Consortium (GHC), which she helped develop and launch in 2023.  In her role, she supports the GHC to accelerate country-level progress towards cervical cancer elimination planning and implementation, provides expert perspective on global HPV prevention efforts for international forums and convenings, and consults and helps build regional and country-level consortia focused on HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening and treatment. In addition, she facilitates initiatives and partnership opportunities for the 60 plus GHC partners and manages Consortium participation in global efforts to prevent HPV and eliminate cervical cancer. During her tenure, the Consortium tripled in size in just two years.

Prior to this role, she supported Influenza Vaccine Innovation programming at Sabin, served as a Fellow in Quality of Medical Products at the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, and was a research associate at Georgetown University’s Center on Medical Product Access Safety and Stewardship (COMPASS), studying the prevalence of carbapenem- and polymyxin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in Africa and Southeast Asia.  Her expertise includes microbiological research, advocacy, and partnerships in global health, and she has worked on antimicrobial resistance, pandemic preparedness, influenza and next-generation vaccines.

Marissa holds a Master of Science in Public Health Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University Maryland.
