Rene Salas

Trustee

Rene Salas brings both strategic and financial expertise with a focus on R&D organizations to the Board. During his 40-year career, including 33 years as a partner with Ernst & Young’s Life Sciences division, he advised biotech organizations, from start-ups to mid-size and top-tier companies, and understands the financial strategy needed for successful growth. He led both EY’s Innovation Practice and its Entrepreneur of the Year program. Since 2020, Salas has worked with and served on the Board of various biotech companies.  He has completed multiple IPOs, private placements, acquisitions, and collaborations across the health care and technology sectors.

Salas has extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations, including serving as the Board Chair of several regional organizations. These organizations focus on education, early childhood health and development, housing and immigration legal services, and serve diverse clients, most of whom live in poverty.

He currently serves as a board member of ADMA Biologics and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the University of Texas at San Antonio, his alma mater. He is an active member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association.
